Annalee Adair, Executive Director
Annalee Adair was appointed to lead ArtsSmarts in 2001. With over
20 years experience in arts education, public art, and community
cultural development, Annalee has worked both as an arts specialist
at the high school level and as a professor of arts education in
the Education Faculty at the University of Regina. She held the
position of Director of Visual Arts for the Organization of
Saskatchewan Arts Councils and Program Director for the City of
Ottawa's Public Art Program, where she expanded the department to
include a new Community Arts Program and an Arts Leadership for
Youth program. Since 1996, Annalee has worked with private and
public sector clients on national public art projects and municipal
policy through her company, POPart Consulting. She has served on
the management board of the Canadian Education Association, and as
a member of the Canadian Arts and Learning Network. She holds a
Diploma in Fine Craft, a BFA, and a BFA in Art Education (Honours)
from NSCAD University and has completed graduate work in arts
management and education.
Holly Wagg, Manager of Fund Development and
Marketing
Holly has over 14 years of experience in communications and funds
development in the voluntary sector. She specializes in
working with smaller organizations, often in their early years of
growth and development. In 2004 Holly co-founded a
not-for-profit, the Ten Oaks Project, which engages and connects
children and youth of LGBTQ communities through programs and
activities rooted in play. Under five years of her
leadership, the organization launched three programs, hired its
first staff members, and grew a connected body of engaged and
passionate supporters. Today, she continues to be actively involved
in the Ottawa community. She sits on the Board of the
Centretown Community Health Centre and volunteers with the National
Capital Region YMCA-YWCA and Adoption Council of Canada.
Holly is a CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive).
Dr. Lorna Earl, Principal Researcher, Aporia Consulting
Dr. Lorna Earl is a director of Aporia Consulting Ltd. and a
retired Associate Professor from the department of Theory and
Policy Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of
the University of Toronto. She was the first Director of Assessment
for the Ontario Education Quality and Accountability Office, and
she as been a researcher and research director in school districts
for over 20 years. Dr. Earl holds a doctorate in Epidemiology and
Biostatistics, as well as degrees in education and
psychology.
Throughout her career, Dr. Earl has concentrated her efforts on
policy and program evaluations as a vehicle to enhance learning for
pupils and for organizations. She has done extensive work in the
areas of literacy and the middle years but has concentrated her
efforts on issues related to evaluation of large-scale reform and
assessment (large-scale and classroom) in many venues around the
world. She has worked extensively in schools and school boards, and
has been involved in consultation, research and staff development
with teachers' organizations, ministries of education, school
districts and charitable foundations.
Susan Elgie, Research Associate, Aporia Consulting
Susan Elgie has a B.A. in Sociology and an M.A. in Measurement and
Evaluation, both from the University of Toronto. She has extensive
experience as a statistical and research methods consultant, a
field in which she worked at OISE, University of Toronto. Now a
consultant, Susan has participated in many research projects and
evaluation studies. Her current research interests include
large-scale testing, English Language Learners and multilevel
modeling.
Jodene Dunleavy, Research Writer
Jodene Dunleavy has worked at the Ministry and board levels as a
policy advisor and as a freelance education writer for CEA and
within the Ontario and Nova Scotia education sectors. Her areas of
focus include educational theory and research in board
effectiveness and school improvement, and evidence-based policy
development. She is currently the National Coordinator of the
Canadian Education Association's What did you do in school
today? initiative and a freelance education writer. Jodene has
a B.Ed and M.A.
