In Newfoundland and Labrador, ArtsSmarts is delivered through the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC).  ArtsSmarts projects in schools are funded through the Cultural Connections Strategy, a unique partnership between the Department of Education and the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation that seeks to increase the presence of cultural content in the school curriculum and foster links between the arts and school communities.  All staffing, travel and administrative costs for ArtsSmarts are supported by NLAC.  NLAC has been operating ArtsSmarts in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1998.
