The Medicine Wheel

Back

Medicine Wheel 2Artists Sharon Thunderbird and Chris McKhool worked with the grades 1 to 6 students at Toronto's C.E. Webster Public School on The Medicine Wheel project.

Having first built a permanent outdoor Medicine Wheel in an earlier ArtsSmarts project, the artists-teachers team wanted to connect the younger grades with the teachings of the Medicine Wheel through discussion, drumming, songs and music that focused on the notion of respect for family, the community and self.

Each grade wrote songs and spoken word pieces which they performed at the final celebration.
