GenieArts Nouvelle-Écosse
GénieArts Nouvelle-Écosse is a provincial program that gives schools and communities the chance to integrate artistic activities into their curriculum and gives students the chance to develop their critical thinking skills through dynamic participation in the arts. The projects developed by GénieArts are the result of collaboration between an artist and teacher with the goal of integrating the arts into the academic curriculum. These projects explore different art forms: music, visual arts, writing, theatre, film, dance, etc.
La Fédération culturelle acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse (FéCANE) is the francophone partner of GénieArts Nouvelle-Écosse that subsidize these projects in francophone secondary schools and secondary schools offering French as a second language (FLS) program in Nova Scotia. FéCANE has been supporting ArtsSmarts projects since its first pilot phase in September 2009. Beginning in September 2010, projects will be launched in all the schools across the province. FéCANE's mission is to support and promote the development of Acadian arts and culture in Nova Scotia.
