Our Voice, Our Land (student)

When 50 youth gathered with artists and educators at historic Fort Battleford, their task was to develop a creative and collective response to the statement "We Are All Treaty People." Linking the historical legacy of First Nations and non-First Nations people in the province, the group hoped to uncover hidden tensions and move beyond issues to begin building relationships and promoting community through this project, Our Voice, Our Land.

Meet grade 3 and 4 students at Graham Bruce Elementary.  Students explored the connections between science, language arts and fine arts in one of our pilot arts and environment projects, Flutter, Hum, Buzz: An Artful Garden Party.

Aquaventure

St. Mary's Elementary School, Longueuil | ArtsSmarts Riverside
During this 10-month project, grade 5 and 6 students at St. Mary's Elementary School investigated the ecological impact of human and natural disasters through events centred around the theme of water.  Beginning with research on wars, oil spills, earthquakes, hydroelectric dams and hurricanes, the students utilized animation, pupptery, fine arts, script writing, dance, music composition and drama to produce the multimedia puppet theatre megaproduction, Aquaventure.
